President's word

Etienne Martin 2020

Remain vigilant and preservethe interest of industrial players

In this particular period, which is having a serious and lasting effect on our working methods, the members of COFREND have chosen to place their trust in me and I have been entrusted with the Chairman's responsibilities. I thank you for that. I would also like to thank, on behalf of all of us, the outgoing Chairman, François Champigny, for all his achievements and for handing over the baton to me before he heads for sunnier skies.
In the difficult environment ahead of us, we will have to remain vigilant in order to maintain the interest of industrial stakeholders in organisations such as ours. Let us never forget the fact that, whatever its performance and achievements, our organisation depends on the contributions of the companies we represent, in terms of human and material resources.
To do this, we will be able to build on the strengths of our organisation:
• a community of trades, based on experts and technical authorities;
• a plural expression of our activities;
• a certification that is recognised for its quality;
• the investment of the members of our association through the supply of numerous volunteers, who devote a large part of their activity to the running of COFREND.

COFREND is a confederation. Its governance is based on the simple principles of sharing, exchanging, independence and communication, in which all members must feel involved and recognised. With a renewed Bureau,
• we will reaffirm the central role of the sectoral certification committees and their balanced representation in the CDEC;
• we will be keen to support the communications department, so that it continues to effectively publicise COFREND's actions in all its missions, both nationally and internationally, by relying on the work of the Editorial and Communication Committee;
• we will continue the actions taken by the Scientific and Technical Pole, encouraging innovation, the development of the NDT of the future, and the connection with new technologies;
• we will give a strong impetus to COFREND's international development, in order to meet the needs of and to support French industrial manufacturers in their export activities, and to enter balanced and productive alliances with partner countries, always with a pragmatic mindset.
We will protect the balance and the financial health of the Confederation by adapting the right resources and other means to the development of the Confederation.
Finally, we will support the action of the regional groups, which are COFREND's real representatives in the regions, and which dynamically ensure its ability to take action and transmit the Confederation's values locally.
